About Me
I started learning to "do" genealogy nearly 40 years ago by helping my grandparents with their genealogical research. We did it the old-fashioned way, mainly through correspondence and courthouse visits. It felt like detective work, and I've been hooked ever since.
Other interests took over in high school and college. But then some amazing new technologies came out. A little PC and an AOL dial-up service opened up more opportunities for research and connecting with other researchers and new-found relatives. And now DNA genealogy adds yet another dimension to the field.
At the same time, I'm a working journalist with 30 years of experience as a newspaper reporter and editor, plus a brief foray into writing and blogging in a marketing context. I draw on interviewing, recording, writing and transcribing skills to help people tell and preserve their personal and family stories.
It's incredibly fulfilling to help others learn about their family histories. Each one is unique and presents countless opportunities for me to learn and grow as a genealogist and personal historian.
